29-residue chain
GHRH 1-29 fragment; formerly FDA-approved (Geref) for GH-deficient children, now compounded
Sermorelin is the first 29 amino acids of GHRH. It was FDA-approved as Geref for children with growth hormone deficiency and is no longer marketed (sources disagree on the year, 2008 or 2009, and I did not confirm the maker's reason). Adult use today is compounded and off-label, and the figures below come from a secondary source, not a label.
Community adult courserecommended
Community practice, not from a label or trial. Middle of the 100-300 mcg range. Not the pediatric Geref dose, which is weight-based (30 mcg/kg).
Route: Subcutaneous injection.
Timing: Community: about 30 minutes before bedtime, fasted; food within 90 minutes may blunt the GH response (secondary source).
Secondary source: after reconstitution keep at 2-8 C and use within 14 days; do not freeze.
Community: 3-6 month cycles with periodic reassessment; no sourced rest period.
Why:
Not currently an approved marketed product; the former Geref approval was pediatric. Compounded supply is unapproved and varies.
